Michael Flannigan is Managing Director at Bondi Partners and serves as a key advisor for advocacy, M&A and corporate strategy. Michael has over 25 years of experience working on national and international corporate communications, community relations, government relations, sustainable
development, and project development. Key policy areas include extractives, carbon capture use & storage, decarbonization and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategy.
Prior to working at Bondi Partners Michael was Senior Vice President of Government Affairs & Public Policy at Peabody Energy reporting to the CEO as a member of the senior management committee. At Rio Tinto, he served as Global Practice Lead for Government Affairs & Policy, and served as Vice President of Communications and External Relations for the US and South America. Michael started his career in the United States Senate working for two members of the Senate, and as a senior advisor to the Senate Committee on Energy & Natural Resources.
Michael currently serves on the US Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, and as Vice Chair of the Carbon Utilization Research Center. He holds a Master’s degree from Georgetown University, a Bachelor of Science from the University of Oregon and has attended executive leadership programs at Duke University and the Center for Creative Leadership. He is married to Allison Nyholm, and they are proud parents of Christian and Kaeje.
