Former Democratic National Committee chairman Terry McAuliffe also reflected on President Joe Biden’s “bittersweet” decision to quit the presidential race.
Mr McAuliffe has known President Biden for 40 years and was called by the world leader on the night he announced he was dropping out of the race.
“He wanted to run again and he did run again and had millions and millions of people vote for him but after the debate and then it came to the point where he didn’t want to hurt the party but it hurt Senate and House,” he told Bondi Partners Global President Joe Hockey.
“People got very vocal. I don’t like the way some of the people did it.”
